Many people fear getting tested because they are afraid of what the results may be, But did you know early detection can reduce your risk of developing AIDS & spreading the disease to others.   Did you know? 50,000 people are infected with HIV every year Did you know? African Americans are the racial/ethnic group most affected by HIV. The rate of new HIV infection in African Americans is at least 8 times that of whites.   Did you know? About 15 out of every 100,000 people in the Philadelphia metropolitan area received an initial diagnosis of AIDS, also known as Stage 3 HIV. That rate of late-stage diagnoses is about 50 percent higher than the national average.   Did you know? Every 9 minutes someone is infected with HIV in the U.S   Did you know? Among students who are currently sexually active 42% did not use a condom during last sexual intercourse.     Did you know? Over 90% of people with HIV were infected through sexual contact   Did you know? 1 in 6 living with HIV are unaware of their infection   Did you know? Gay and bisexual men account for most new infections among African Americans; young gay and bisexual men aged 13 to 24 are the most affected of this group.   Did you know? 1 in 4 new HIV infections are among youth ages 13-24   Did you know? There are an estimated 30,000 people living with HIV in the Greater Philadelphia Region WI Did you know? Most women who are HIV positive believed they were in monogamous relationships with a boyfriend or husband.   Did you know? 1.3 million people are living with HIV in the United States of America, with a fifth (260,000) unaware of their status.   Here's the big message I would like everyone to take a piece and have the videographer compile it into one.   Unless the course of the epidemic changes, at some point in their lifetime, an estimated 1 in 16 black men and 1 in 32 black women will be diagnosed with HIV infection. We can be the generation to change these stats, If you are sexually active, protect yourself against HIV by practicing safer sex.
